Tagging Emails/Email Types/Tracking
On our site we have several different 'types' of emails that go out. Password Resets, Registations, etc.
It would be awesome if I could somehow see how much of each of these emails were going out by adding a header of somesort, or something.
Thanks guys, great service.

Are you spying on us? :)
This should be ready in a week or so. It will be tied to volume and bounces. We're also releasing CC and multiple To support.

I have eyes like Ninja.
Looks like I'll need to modify the postmark-codeigniter library with the new features too.

Any rough estimate on when tags will be available for non-bounces? I've got a client that is having a rough time with order, quote request and inquiry messages getting "lost" so I'd like to flip their site over to using Postmark. I would need to be able to segment out the different types of messages, as well as their different locations though.

Hi Jonathan,
Right now we are working on SMTP support in case you don't want to use the API. It will be a slimmed down version for people who don't want all of the other features.
Immediately after that, we will work on sent tracking. Make sure to follow us on Twitter for updates.
Either way, I think you will find delivery improvements in Postmark. What did you mean by different locations?

Hey Chris,
Already using Postmark for several of my projects, but this client has 8 different physical locations that can receive orders, quote requests, or general inquiries. So setting up one server and lumping all deliveries into the same group will make troubleshooting "I didn't receive an order" type of complaints impossible for me to troubleshoot. The average day will see a couple hundred messages of any one of 24 different types go out (Calgary office, quote request for example). If Vancouver complains that they didn't get a quote request that a customer claims to have sent, through Postmark I'd have no way of telling whether one of the 200 messages sent on April 23rd was a quote request to Vancouver.
I have to admit that I'm holding out on full-scale deployment on my other projects as well because I can't differentiate between "Sign up", "Password reminder", "Account cancellation" and any number of other message types. Just seeing that 25 messages were sent successfully isn't very useful.
That said, the main reason for using Postmark - reliability in delivery - is definitely rock solid. I guess I'm going to have to stick to SMTP for the time being for the one client.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the suggestions. This is the exact reason why we are working on the tools. We want to give people better tools for troubleshooting. Email is far from perfect and we're all at the mercy of the receiver. An email could be sent, but never arrive or go into bulk depending on time, content, reputation and so on. ISPs are even starting to build reputation on the From domain, not just the IP address.
So, in short, we'll have this really soon :)
